"Nothing is so bitter that a calm mind cannot find comfort in it"

I'm craving comfort and the country right now.
It's rare that I miss being back home in the south as much as I do right now.
But that hot summer rain and fresh cut grass, the stickiness left around your mouth after eating a basket full of strawberries and coffee in my grandma's kitchen sound so appealing it hurts.

What is your idea of perfect happiness?
Being totally content with your self and where you are in life.
Floating in pools in the summer, reading on roofs, doing nothing with friends but having a great time.

What is your greatest fear?
Being alone and friendless.
Gaining weight.
Failing.

What is the trait you most deplore in yourself?
Lack of willpower. If I weren't so lazy I could have finished the six novels and two films I started writing a few years ago.
And I'd probably be going to a real college.

What is the trait you most deplore in others?
Selfishness. Inability to understand basic concepts.

What is your greatest extravagance?
Books.
I buy new ones so much more often than I need them.
I have at least twenty on my shelf I have yet to start.

What is your current state of mind?
Tired, frustrated.
Wanting out of my house.

On what occasion do you lie?
When it's necessary.
When it makes things easier without hurting anyone.

What do you dislike most about your appearance?
My thighs. It's such a general complaint, but in porportion to the rest of my really really skinny body, they look weird.
To me, atleast.

Which living person do you most despise?
Anyone who tries to keep others from having their natual rights.
*ahem, those who voted Yes on prop 8, you fucks*

What is the quality you most like in a man?
Silliness. Not too serious.
Will challenge me, will tickle me, will love me.
And my cooking.

What is the quality you most like in a woman?
Humbleness.
And if it's in a humorous way, bitchiness.

Which words or phrases do you most overuse?
"fuck", "like", "um"

Which talent would you most like to have?
The ability to concentrate and finish what I start.
Or ridilin may help.

What do you consider your greatest achievement?
The amount of books I read, and how if I want to I can finish one within two days.
It's only july, is fifteen books in 7 months much?

If you were to die and come back as a person or thing, what do you think it would be?
Probably a cat.
I'd make a terrible ghost. When ever I try to scare people, I get the giggles.

Where would you like to live?
Paris, New York (although I did that for a month this year already)
London, perhaps.

What is your most treasured possession?
My books, my locket from my grandma.
If I didn't feel wrong in calling my puppy a possession, I'd say her.

What do you most value in your friends?
Loyalty, good listeners, humor.

Who are your favorite writers?
Fitzgerald, Malory, Tartt, Austen, Doyle, Block, Orwell, Segan, Sallinger, Plath, and Rowling, of course.

Who is your favorite hero of fiction?
anyone from greek mythology.

Which historical figure do you most identify with?
no one i have read about.
if an author could be considered a historical figure, though,
probably Susan Kaysen.

What is it that you most dislike?
Being stuck in one place.
Unreasonable stubbornness.

What is your motto?
I don't think that I have one.

"Pure love produces pure nonsense"- Klinger

It's so hot here, in the valley.
I'm thinking a trip to San Fransisco is in order soon.
Some how, i feel as though i'm in an enternal cycle in my mind.
though it changes, occasionally, and developes, I'm constantly second guessing my self about the same issues and questions.
You'd think I'd learn from previous experience, but it really doesn't seem to be the case with me.

On a happier note, I'm going to san diego all weekend!
hooray for comicon!

"Write While the Heat Is In You" -Thoreau

Well, The heat certainly is in me, everywhere outside of me too.
It doesn't seem to be helping the writing much, however. It was so immensely hot out today I felt like there was a tiny waterhose attached somewhere on my back and forehead. The heat permeates through the window in the kitchen by my bedroom, making my ceiling fan useless. Perhaps once everything has melted away and I begin to hallucinate words will spring forth out of my hands and into my keyboard and let me finish a story for once.
These days I'm dreaming of the soft, rainy warmth of east-coast summers.

Last two pictures from the BBC show Skins.
I adore Cassie.

On a more depressing note, after awaiting the new Harry Potter movie for a year now, I was astoundingly disappointed.
They practically obliterated the story. Not only did they skip two of the most important scenes (the battle at hogwarts and dumbledore's funeral) but they added a scene that didn't even exist (the cornfield scene and the weasley's house catching fire.) I felt like I had missed a few chapters of the book. I'm hoping it will be better the second time I see it (my boyfriend hasn't gotten to yet) since I suppose I was comparing it so much to the book, rather than as a movie itself.

On another note, if anyone has any recommendations on anything from good books to cheap vintage shops in LA or San Deigo, let me know!

Let us step into the night, and persue that flighty temptress, adventure.

Lately, for some reason or another, I have been having huge difficulty expressing myself in words. Therefore it's far easier, and preferable, to express it though pictures.
On another note, I have some how gained ten pounds recently and it's scaring the hell out of me.
It's astounding how much weight change can effect you until it happens.
I am not happy about this.
Ergo, photos. This post is for things that make me feel lovely again.

In reference to the picture above, I'm unreasonably bitter about not getting BBCA anymore.
I would do terrible things to be able to watch Skins weekly along with the documentaries they air.
And a little "Flying Circus" never hurt either.
Why do the british make everything hail in comparison to their creations?
The exception here is food.
Discounting tea, of course.

A bit of truth.

And of course in celebration of my favorite nerdy indulgence which will be coming out in 48 hours,

I would like to live Frenchly.

Lately, I've been in a repressive, nostalgic mood, I think due largely to the heat and the guit of ending thing with my very loving boyfriend. I have wanted nothing more than sleeping in till noon, lots of reading and drawing, sulking, and pretty, charming things. Despite the sulking, I have been appreciating other aspects of life a lot more, such as pictures of gorgeous food, light dresses, well put together rooms, and depictions of romance, even though mine romance life is lack (self inflicted).
This is a bit what my head has been looking like the past week or two.

All I need is some french onion soup and a rainy day.
I'd even be fine with one, or the other.
